Maturity

The church exists to develop God's people to spiritual maturity. Discipleship is the process of helping people become more like Christ in their thoughts, feelings and actions. Paul says,"...so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Eph. 4:12b-13).

Ministries that work together to help people grow to spiritual maturity include.

  • Children's Ministry
  • Youth Ministry
  • Adult Education
  • Library
  • Prayer

Greenville Oaks Children’s Ministry

The Greenville Oaks Children’s Ministry partners with families to plant and nurture God’s Word in the hearts of children by:

·          teaching and applying Bible knowledge.

·          building relationships with God and others.

·          providing a welcoming and safe place to learn.

·          worshiping God in reverent and engaging ways.

The Children’s Ministry provides a full program of Bible classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings for newborns through sixth grade. A list of classes and a map of their locations is available at the Welcome Center.

Nursery The Nursery Center cares for and teaches babies from birth through 24 months. It is located on the south hall, just across from the Worship Center’s southwest entrance. You can check your child in at any time. He or she will be well cared for during class and worship time.

Preschool Bible classes for ages three through five are located on the south hall. Age- appropriate Bible lessons are taught through an interactive approach that begins with Creation and continues through Paul’s journeys in the New Testament.

Elementary Bible classes for kindergarten through sixth grade are located on the north hall. Kindergarten through fourth grade curriculum, called Imaginality, walks children through the Bible in an engaging way and provides applications that are easy for children to understand. Fifth and sixth graders meet together for more thematic studies that are relevant to preteens.

Children’s Worship Children’s worship for two-year-olds through first grade is offered during the second half of each worship time. Watch the big screen for directions. Two- and three-year-olds meet on the south side of the building for an exciting program that leads them to praise God in ways that are meaningful to them. Four-year-olds through first grade meet on the north side of the building to praise God actively through songs, prayers and a short message that applies to their age.

Periodic Events – Our Children’s Ministry offers several special events during the year, including Leadership Training for Christ, Vacation Bible School, carnivals, a fall festival and musical programs. These events are designed to develop children’s faith in God in a fun and safe environment.

Security – The safety of your children is one of our highest priorities. A professional background check is completed on everyone who works with children (from birth through high school) and all volunteers must complete “Safe Place” training.

Children in the fourth grade and younger are checked in at the classroom door. You and your child will be given unique devices that must be matched up when you pick up your child from class. To ensure your child’s safety, the same person who brings a child to the nursery, class or children’s worship must also pick up the child.

We offer a few specific classes designed to strengthen your roots for a solid foundation to build on. This is part of our overall effort to aid you on your spiritual journey.

Four classes provide the solid grounding we believe essential for anyone who is seriously seeking spiritual growth. These classes provide experiences needed to unify the family around common biblical beliefs and attitudes crucial to an individual’s spiritual growth and the overall unity of the church. These four classes are offered, on a rotating basis, through a four quarter cycle. Each class runs for 13 weeks and is held during the normal Bible class period on Sunday mornings.

Discovering the Old Testament provides a historical overview of the Old Testament and lays the foundation for future study and growth. Designed primarily for new believers, this class also serves as a healthy refresher for the mature believer.

Discovering the New Testament provides a historical overview of the New Testament and continues to lay a foundation for future study and growth. Designed primarily for new believers, this class also serves as a healthy refresher for the mature believer.

These two classes on the Old and New Testaments offer an insightful overview of God’s story and His plan for humanity as revealed through the Bible.

Kingdom Living explains how the Kingdom of God relates to life today. The class helps us understand what drives our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. With that understanding it also helps us see the benefits of living in God’s Kingdom. Through Kingdom Living you’ll learn what it means to be transformed into the image of Christ and to bear the image of God.

Spiritual Disciplines builds on the theoretical learning from Kingdom Living and identifies practical lifestyle actions and practices that are essential for ongoing spiritual formation.
