About Us

 Purposes

The Bible outlines five general purposes for the church. We use five words that start with the letter “m” as a form of shorthand to refer to His purposes. We strive to bring people into the church as members, build them up to maturity, train them for ministry, and send them out on their mission, resulting in the Lord being magnified throughout the process.

Most of our ministries are organized into teams that each work to accomplish one primary purpose. See Ministries section of this site.

Membership
The church exists to provide fellowship for believers (members). "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God
's people and members of God's household" (Eph. 2:19). "...so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others" (Rom. 12:5). "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another..."(1 John 1:7)

Maturity
The church exists to develop God
's people to spiritual maturity. Discipleship is the process of helping people become more like Christ in their thoughts, feelings and actions. Paul says,"...so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Eph. 4:12b-13)

Ministry
The church exists to minister to people. We demonstrate God
's love to others by meeting their spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical needs. The church is to "...equip the saints for the work of ministry." (Eph 4:12 NRSV) "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." (Heb 13:16)

Mission
The church exists to save the lost. "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Matt. 28:19-20).

Magnify
The church exists to worship God and magnify his name. We show our love for God by worshipping him. "Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only" (Matt.
4:10). "O magnify the LORD with me and let us exalt his name together" (Psalm 34:3 NASB).
